The detailed reporting is normally contained in the Adult and Juvenile Trap reports for Knife and French River although those don't typically get signed and released until well after the runs cease on an annual basis. I have come up to trout fish the north shore since I was old enough to hold a fly rod (since 1959). The Sucker River was one of my stops as I worked my way up and down Highway 61. I would venture to suspect that the offending parties were not walking these access trails for fishing purposes, but just to destroy, as they have no concern for the environment or the enjoyment others have received from hiking the same paths.

Vaya con Dios, Steelheaders.

JALAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07785524805242250656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-55432972545359586822019-04-09T08:49:51.447-05:002019-04-09T08:49:51.447-05:00Thanks for your continued work on this frustrating...Thanks for your continued work on this frustrating issue. I am truly sorry that generosity has been abused by some very rude and poor mannered individuals. I have met these landowners at MN Steelheader events, and they are wonderfully kind and warm people. I need to share an comment from one of the landowners. After recognizing him on the river last fall, he looked out at a river full of 12 to 15 year old kids avidly pursuing pink salmon. He looked at me kind heartedly and said “that is why we share the river.” These are Great people that deserve the protection of their property. I hope the river continues to give them wonderful memories, and we all need to learn about the protection of these special places and the people that share them.

Jon and Sam Hendrickson
Duluth, MN Jon and Samhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11742063189259464600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-79969679113557004982018-07-18T17:57:33.927-05:002018-07-18T17:57:33.927-05:00Great stuff you folks put out there. The correlation with the steelhead migration is largely coincidental, as the suckers would provide a vastly larger source of food. darklakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11282019426699730529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-2968888222079269592018-05-17T14:32:46.904-05:002018-05-17T14:32:46.904-05:00ARE THESE # OF FISH CAPTURED LIKE IN THE THOUSANDS...ARE THESE # OF FISH CAPTURED LIKE IN THE THOUSANDS ?????SLEDHEAD34https://www.blogger.com/profile/02538941348571436041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-17678955061131033152018-05-16T16:53:01.053-05:002018-05-16T16:53:01.053-05:00THAT`S IS A GHOST TOWN OF A REPORT NOTHING TO WRIT...THAT`S IS A GHOST TOWN OF A REPORT NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT WITH THE DECLINE IN FISHING LICENSE SALES AND LACK OF TRUE LEADERSHIP IN THE DNR ITS A GIVEN THAT THERE ARE VERY FEW FISH HERE SLEDHEAD34https://www.blogger.com/profile/02538941348571436041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-32041858778508857822018-05-16T16:41:28.074-05:002018-05-16T16:41:28.074-05:00NO REPORTS FOR THE BAPTISM ?WHY NOT ??NO REPORTS FOR THE BAPTISM ?WHY NOT ??SLEDHEAD34https://www.blogger.com/profile/02538941348571436041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-69967834532754199382018-04-24T12:46:08.334-05:002018-04-24T12:46:08.334-05:00Ruser-

It looks like these may be using the UTM zone 15 North projection and what is likely the 1983 North American Datum. You see the UTM projections are like drawing a map where the "equator" runs through Minnesota from north to south producing a world map where -93 degrees longitude is the most accurate and things get distorted the further east and west you go. A datum is a mathematical model of the imperfect sphere we call Earth... You see how coordinates in latitude and longitude would have been better. You can google 47.143 N, -91.468 W. Try it #betterGovernmentThroughBlogComments :)

Keep up the good work!Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07044657444756235060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23931060.post-32057266319459900322018-03-21T18:53:47.236-05:002018-03-21T18:53:47.236-05:00Thank you for your service Bird Dog! As we explored the north shore the Sucker became one of our favorite destinations-that stream stole our hearts. We always stop there to fish, whether we see fish or not, we do it just to BE there! Last year we had a day on the sucker that is one of our top 2 fishing days. We took nothing but pictures and left only foot prints. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the land owners for allowing us to create life long memories through their generosity in sharing this treasure with us.
It angers me to read that some would disrespect this treasure. Whenever I drive up the shore I make sure to stop there and walk to the lake and gaze upon its beauty.

That being said, I will gladly spread the word to fellow anglers and sight see-ers, pick up any trash I see there, and notify DNR and this community of any misuse of the land.

Thanks.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04800654488229148631noreply@blogger.com
